Stepping Away

For the past year or so, this blog has pretty much been neglected. I’ve tried to find the time to post, but honestly, it wasn’t about the lack of time, it was the lack of enjoyment. You see, posting to a blog used to be FUN; a great way to showcase new work, things happening in the business and sometimes in our personal life. However, in the past year or so, I have found blogging to be a drag, coming up with content, resizing the photos and all of the other necessary steps. It wasn’t for lack of work or not being busy! So, I have decided to step away from blogging for a bit. Allowing myself not to stress out about upcoming posts and content and just enjoy each day as it comes. We could all use a little break from technology and social media and this just happens to be my first step.

Thank you to all of my loyal readers, I hope this post doesn’t come as a disappointment and hopefully one day in teh future, you will see a new blog post. Until then, became a fan on facebook to see recent shoots, or the websites or simply send me an email just to say hi!

I can hardly believe that another year has gone by! The start of the new year is much like the beginning of spring, a rebirth, a chance to create resolutions and goals and start with a fresh slate. For me, this year has been an incredible ride both personally and professionally. I will be taking off the rest of the week and will officially be back in the office on the 6th of January. Good luck to all of you have set out to eat better, workout more, take more time for yourself, cook more, do laundry or any other resolution you might have decided on!

As the final shopping days approach, I wanted to share my favorite gift ideas for the photo enthusiast on your list!

1. Olympus PEN E-PL 2 – I recently treated myself one of these and couldn’t be happier! I love having a point and shoot camera in my bag at all times for family vacations and daily life!

2. Project Life – Hands down this project has encouraged me to document our daily lives more in the past year than in the 10 that Patrick and I have been together. I am planning on continuing this project into 2013 with a slightly different format than this year and will be sharing pages along the way!

3. An Ipad – Just because! It seems like every household has one – so why not! Truly, it is a great product for viewing and sharing photos!

4. AKP Gift Certificate – There is always that one person on your list who either has it all or is really a challenge to buy for. That’s where we come in. A portrait gift certificate is a thought gift that never goes out of style! A year in Review

2012 might simply be my favorite year to date. A lot of fun adventures were to be had over the past 12 months and as we are in the final weeks of this year, I couldn’t be happier with the journey. From a birthday cruise to celebrate a new decade to an impromptu trip to Austin, Texas this year has been filled with so many incredible moments.

On the business side of things, we had another incredible year of weddings and high school senior portraits. We have been so lucky to work with these amazing clients who not only allow us into their lives, but inspire us as well. As the year comes to a close, I enjoy reflecting on all of the beautiful work we have been so lucky to produce, in honor of that, I present the Best of 2012 High School Senior Collection.

Elle and John – Welkinweir Estate

All week my mind has been racing with excitement to share Elle and John’s wedding photographs. When I say that their wedding was absolutely magical it would be an understatement. During their ceremony, a hot air ballon came over the mountain and hovered over ceremony site in a distance,it truly felt as if we were documenting two friends starting their lives together and not clients. Elle and John have impeccable style and no detail was left unturned; from the overall ceremony setting, to the cookies and milk at the end of the night, the entire day was perfection. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for allowing us to document your wedding day.
