Project Life

A few months ago I was cruising around Pinterest I stumbled upon a friend’s Project Life board and became very intrigued.  She kindly informed me of how cool Project Life was and I was hooked instantly.  Project Life is like a Photo a Day concept, but better!  Rather than just snap photos everyday, you can incorporate journaling, include ticket subs, fortune cookie sayings, and anything else that you want to remember.  I’m the girl who insists on packing her camera for any vacation and then I leave it at the hotel or house while we are out and about.  My goal for Project Life is to find a creative outlet to document the day to day and actually USE my camera.  There are so many photographers who are amazing at remembering to photograph for themselves. Sadly, I fall into the category of photographing for my clients and not myself.  Hopefully, Project Life will change that.

Project Life is the a very simple way to scrapbook, without feeling like you are scrapbooking.  I am not a designer, or Martha Stewart (though I pretend to be), so when I did more research and watched videos of other Project Lifer’s album, I realized that I can totally do this! Simply document your day, week, month, write up a journal card about it and actually PRINT a few 4×6 photos.  We are so connected to Facebook, twitter and leaving these moments sit on a harddrive or iPhone, but we don’t take the next step to make tangible copies of our memories.

Now, I do have to confess that I tried to start this project back at the end of September and we are now at the start of November and I only was able to do about two weeks of Project Life. Since then I have started back up again and have documented this entire week and will be working on a little journaling and photo selection tomorrow. This is the perfect Sunday afternoon project!

Start of the book:

Week 1: Left Side

Week 1: Insert (I added in a few extra pages to incorporate photographs from my BIL’s wedding.  A HUGE bonus to PL, is that you can add inserts and extras to your album with ease.)

Week 1: Right Side

Week 2: Left Side (I have to do a bit of journaling to do and a handful of photos to add)

Honestly, this project hasn’t taken more than about 30 minutes in the evening when I am relaxing for the night.  It would make an awesome gift, bridal shower, baby shower or even wedding present.  Head over to Becky Higgins’ website (the creator of project life) to order yourself a kit and get started today!
